Tennis US Open Results: Nadal Beat Lajovic

World number one Rafael Nadal beat non-seeded Dusan Lajovic through a straight three-set match in the first round of the US Open’s men’s singles in New York.

In a match that took place on Wednesday morning WIB (30/08/2017), Nadal, the Spaniard and seeded first, had met strict resistance from his Serbian opponent.

Nadal was only able to end the first set of matches with 7-6 thin numbers. However, in the next two sets, Nadal managed to set the rhythm of the game and won a landslide 6-2 6-2.

The reigning champion of the men’s singles tournament held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is Stanislas Wawrinka (Switzerland). In last year’s final he won over Novak Djokovic (Serbia) 6-7 (1-7) 6-4 7-5 6-3.

Both players are absent in this tournament. Wawrinka missed the end of the year due to a severe knee injury, while Djokovic had trouble with his elbow.

A number of top players also resigned. Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic with a wrist injury, and last world number two Andy Murray – who was ousted by Nadal 2 weeks ago from top spot with a groin injury.
